Coloray shows off two different sides to his sound on a new package for home label Atomnation. The original version of 'Is Love Ever Enough' takes in krautrock and wave influences from his current home in Berlin, and the Rave Mix explores more a UK-centric and breaks heavy sound.
Dutchman Coloray is a DJ and producer but also a musician with a live band. Because of this, he has a split musical personality that is reflected on this new EP. It comes on the heels of his Future Static LP on this label, a contribution to a compilation by Dutch label and festival DGTL, a track on a various artists' EP on his own Intercept label, and a new collaboration with Eagles & Butterflies with whom he made 'Can't Stop' back in 2019. That track was something of a hit and its style and influences can be heard once more on this latest new release.
'Is Love Ever Enough' is a chugging track with live-sounding drums that are loose and leggy. They make for a firmly rooted groove while the controlled and moody vocals up top bring subtle hints of wave. After the breakdown, sleazy guitar riffs bring the filth and up the ante as the energy builds and the drums continue to march on.
'Is Love Ever Enough' (Rave Mix) is a completely different tune, with punchy breakbeats and tripped-out synths falling down the face of the tune. Old school vocal stabs and fizzing chords place you in the heart of the dance floor and the whole thing is an intense and writhing workout that is finished with subtle parts of the original vocal.
Few artists could pull off such different sounds, but Coloray does it in style.

How can you really choose a favorite track? Every single track is amazing and emotionally charged, the way these two can craft a story without words never fails to blow me away. AND the live show was amazing, can't wait to see them again! leetster
